With Worlds gone, it’s time for another Asuka, Gravekeeper of Tsukuyomi (NWE-058) article. first and foremost, why am I writing about Asuka, Gravekeeper of Tsukuyomi (NWE-058) when I played Eins (NWE-090) myself… well she was my second choice and I almost ended up switching to her the day of the event. furthermore, I was one of the people behind the Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) / Blue Asuka deck a few of the German (editor’s note: and Dutch 😉) players brought to the event.
But why put Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) into Asuka, Gravekeeper of Tsukuyomi (NWE-058)? It solved a lot of Asuka, Gravekeeper of Tsukuyomi (NWE-058)‘s issues. it’s that simple.
- Don’t have enough combo pieces to combo turn 2? Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) for Phantasmal Ascendant (GOG-026) + Lailah, Maiden of the Swamps (AOA-092) + Aspiring Diva (CMB-028) or Dark Alice, Rabbit Princess (DBV-009) and your combo is almost guaranteed! Assuming you also have Night of the Legendary Vampire (NWE-072) // End of Night (NWE-072J) of course.
- Can’t handle that pesky Ray Aznable, Reunion’s Navigator (CMB-039), the card other Asuka, Gravekeeper of Tsukuyomi (NWE-058) decks main Hellfire of the Demonic World (GRL-018) for? just play Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) for Chimeric Beast of Ma’at (GRL-055) + Neverend, Fairy Tale Dragon (MSW-043) + Lailah, Maiden of the Swamps (AOA-092). Then use Child of the Darkness Moon (NWE-051) to destroy the blocker and Chimeric Beast of Ma’at (GRL-055) will deal with Ray Aznable, Reunion’s Navigator (CMB-039).
- Combo failed because you didn’t find key combo pieces? Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) finds whatever you need and can be played with Aspiring Diva (CMB-028) Will too! The deck hardly ever fails to combo if uninterrupted despite only playing a singular combo piece in Athenia, Deity of Harvest and Corruption (DBV-092).
The deck runs the obvious cards every Asuka, Gravekeeper of Tsukuyomi (NWE-058) deck plays. Phantasmal Ascendant (GOG-026), Aspiring Diva (CMB-028), Night of the Legendary Vampire (NWE-072) // End of Night (NWE-072J), Dark Alice, Rabbit Princess (DBV-009) and some interaction. We cut back on Phantasmal Ascendant (GOG-026) as it’s one of the cards that make your deck bricky if you see too many of them.
The only interesting choice aside from the Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) targets is Loki Enters the Game of Gods (GOG-037). It allows us to use the Aspiring Diva (CMB-028) and Eternal, Artificial Archipelago (NWE-064) Will for other things like Night of the Legendary Vampire (NWE-072) // End of Night (NWE-072J) or Phantasmal Ascendant (GOG-026). It also helps us get to 7 cards in grave for the contact more reliably.
For Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) targets, Chimeric Beast of Ma’at (GRL-055) is important to deal with the opposing Ray Aznable, Reunion’s Navigator (CMB-039).
Neverend, Fairy Tale Dragon (MSW-043) allows us to play for the board together with Chimeric Beast of Ma’at (GRL-055). Lailah, Maiden of the Swamps (AOA-092) is another way to get extra stones and is required to get Phantasmal Ascendant (GOG-026) + Lailah, Maiden of the Swamps (AOA-092) + something else to ensure you have 2 Will and 4 stones left open to use the contract afterward. Being able to use your own Child of the Darkness Moon (NWE-051) to activate her effect the first time is also important to think about when setting up your combos with her.
For interaction we ended up on Look of Corruption (NDR-093) and Setting the Stage for Providence (GRL-034) to make sure we can combo very early on. lastly Laurite, Seven Luminaries Astrologian (TSW-094) was chosen to stop the opposing Child of the Light Moon (NWE-003).
Look of Corruption (NDR-093) turn 1 or Setting the Stage for Providence (GRL-034) turn 2 before recovery and then playing Dexia’s Advice (TUS-026) with 2 stones + Eternal, Artificial Archipelago (NWE-064) (to get Lailah, Maiden of the Swamps (AOA-092) + Phantasmal Ascendant (GOG-026) + Aspiring Diva (CMB-028) or Dark Alice, Rabbit Princess (DBV-009)) and immediately playing the contract (using either Dark Alice, Rabbit Princess (DBV-009) or our own Child of the Darkness Moon (NWE-051) to destroy Lailah, Maiden of the Swamps (AOA-092)) is an extremely dangerous line for any deck to face.
